Raphael and Nader emerged from Professor Garby’s lecture hall and into the light of day.

“Dude, that was interesting, huh?” Nader said. “All the stuff about ancient civilizations with mysterious buildings and people with powers and—”

“Should we ask Prof-Garb about . . .” Raphael looked around to make sure no one was nearby. “My powers?”

“Ask our skeptical anthropology professor who’s on a mission to disprove everything he’s teaching us?”

“Yeah, maybe not. Lunch and discuss?”

“Sure, but dude, what if other powers and myths and stuff are real too?” Nader replied, staring off.

“Right?! We should get some food to help us think,” Raphael said, waiting for Nader to agree. “Hello?”

“Huh?”

“Come on, let’s get food.”

They grabbed food at the campus cafeteria and found a good table near the back. Raphael’s tray was piled high with two burritos, a smoothie, and a cinnamon bun.

“But yeah, dude, think about it. Could the Salem witches have been real? Could Bigfoot be real? What about vampires or zombies or aliens? How much has been lost to time? Dude, how much are *they* keeping from us?” Nader’s inner conspiracy theorist started cooking. “No flavor-bomb hot dog? Who are you and what have you done with my friend?” Nader squinted suspiciously at Raphael.

“I’m *goood*,” Raphael replied, massaging his stomach. “That cashier lady really didn’t need to make another batch of hot dogs for me last night. Had me running to the bathroom all night.”

“Bro. You shouldn’t have asked for them, then. And you shouldn’t have eaten—”

“Excuse me?” a female voice asked, making Nader and Raphael jump at the unexpected interruption. A woman in her mid-thirties, with deep brown eyes, had apparently walked up to their table. “Were you guys just in Garby’s class too?”

“Whoa, hi. Uh, yes,” Nader stammered. “Do you work with him?”

“Me? Work with old Garby? Pfft, please.” She disappeared.
