Embrace the Unknown

Embrace the Unknown

Create before you’re ready to begin and see what new, original art comes through you.

Embrace the unknown, the uncertainty, the discomfort of diving into something without a plan, without an outline, and without any way to ensure you’re on the right track.

You can’t fly if you don’t know how to wing it.

You can and probably should explore and practice both approaches.

The approach of the planner, the left-brain approach, the outline.

And the approach of just winging it, the discoverer, the right-brain approach, no outline, no idea at all what you might make.

Just reach for a random word and see what word falls into place after it, and then after that one, and on and on.

We utilize both approaches to some extent, and we will generally favor one side over the other, the left brain versus the right brain, but you are neither left brain nor right brain.

You are whole brain.

Even the most left-brain person in the world is, like, 60% left brain and 40% right brain.

Most of us are maybe 45/55, if that.

Those few percentage points of difference can feel quite large, but in the grand scheme of things they are minuscule.

You are a whole brain, a whole mind.

Explore the various avenues through which you can express yourself creatively.

You are limitless.

The only limits you experience are those you accept and impose upon yourself.

Today’s writing has a different tone than my usual writing, doesn’t it?

Strange.

Maybe because it’s later in the evening when I’m writing this.

Maybe it’s because, in this moment, sitting upon my throne of creativity in my office, my workshop of creation, I want nothing more than to run to the living room and throw myself upon the sofa and watch Avengers: Infinity War with my girlfriend.

I can hear it through the walls.

I have headphones on, over-the-ear headphones, but all I hear is her laughter at Thor and Star-Lord and all the other characters that I love.

I have made promises, though, and I cannot indulge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until I have completed the habits that I have sworn to do each and every day.

This is part of my daily sacrifice to the Muse, to Inspiration, and the more I give of myself, especially when I don’t want to give, the more I am blessed!

That is the truth.

If you don’t believe it but desperately want more blessings in your life, then try it.

Greatness is your divine right.
