Creating Is Easier Than Ever

Creating Is Easier Than Ever

I have a bad habit of hiding away in my apartment, aka my happy box.

I blame it on years of playing video games for 8 hours a day, or more.

So I started walking around the neighborhood or the bike trail every morning.

Being the genius that I am, I figured why not get in some good steps and take photos of interesting things that I see on my walk?

Exercise plus capturing moments that I can share on my Instagram as part of the daily carousel that I post there.

The issue I ran into today was that I was struggling to take "perfect" photos.

I wanted cinematic looking photos, perfectly lined up with great angles and depth and symmetry and Rule of Thirds and a person doing in the background or foreground of each photo...

I was doing the most and the least at the same time.

Other mornings I was in the zone, taking pictures of whatever, just flowing and having fun and feeling a little silly but also feeling like the world was trying to communicate with me and I was trying to listen to it through my phone's camera.

Anywho, I got some decent photos from all that effort, but I felt myself straining and trying and the experience overall was kinda meh.

Would not recommend.

Toward the end of my walk, on my way back, I decided I was just going to walk and keep walking and not stop walking and snap photos of anything that looked even remotely interesting–without stopping walking.

I had so much fun with that!

I felt alive again.

I was moving, I was grooving, and I was snapping these quick, sometimes blurry shots on my iPhone, but some of those shots ended up being my favorites!

I'm gonna post them on my Instagram as soon as I'm done writing this.

Maybe photography isn't your thing, but look, hear me out, you do have the tool that photographers use (a camera) on you all day every day.

You probably already use it for selfies, capturing special events, so why not lean into it more and use it to add a little creative spark to your every day life?

That's what I'm doing and it's quite fulfilling!

I have no intention of ever being a "professional" photographer.

There's just something magical about capturing a moment and looking at it later, in awe at how well that moment was captured.

It's like reading a great quote, or writing a great quote, except it's a lot less thinking and way less effort to take photos–and you already always have a camera on you anyway, so why not?!

Pro tip: if you're wondering how all my photos have the "look" that they do, I use the No Fusion camera app and just played around with some of the settings to dial in the look that I like.

So every photo I take with that app has a similar vibe.

I don't spend any time editing any of my photos in any way.

As of this writing, the app is a one-time payment of $30 for lifetime access to all the premium features.

It's awesome, it's an incredible value for the money, and I've been telling everyone about it.

So if you're looking for a low effort way to live more creatively, get outside, walk around, and start snapping photos.

You don't even have to stop walking!

Just keep moving, snapping, and see what beautiful moments you are able to capture.

It's okay if they aren't symmetrical or perfectly centered.

It's okay if they're a little blurry.

Sometimes it's the imperfections that make something so damn perfect.

It's easy to fall into the trap of trying to do things perfectly.

Perfection is a distraction.

It's an excuse that we use to procrastinate, hide, and drown out that part of us that just wants to play and have fun.

So get out there and have some fun making something today!

Create whatever you can create and share it with others, online or offline.

Your contribution is important to the world.

It's important to the expansion of human consciousness.

It's of critical importance to the evolution of your soul.

No act of creativity is too small or unimportant.

So will you come out and play today?
