Temptation

I'm tempted to play Teamfight Tactics right now.

It's a video game that I got back into this past week.

Normally I can wait patiently until the evening, after all my creative outputs, habits, errands, and meetings are done.

Today though, I have been feeling the pull to play for hours.

Feeling it strongly.

It started at 10AM when my apartment's fire alarm testing began.

The fire alarms blared as loud as they could nonstop for two and a half hours.

During that time, I was running around trying to help with Daisy, my shared custody dog, and then get back to my journaling practice and get back into routine, with AirPods in my ears and headphones over the airpods to protect my ear drums from the piercing alarms.

I haven't been able to focus.

Temptation loves Chaos.

Chaos is like a giant fan that Temptation stands in front, her hair blowing wildly in the wind as she tries her hardest to keep her cute little dress from being blown upward.

Temptation to rears hers seductive head.

And then there's work.

Making stuff.

A boulder.

Why force myself to roll a boulder up a hill when I could just play?

Play is easy.

Recreation is important, but Creation is more important.

Especially on hard days.

On easy days, we make stuff and there's Flow and what comes out is usually pretty good.

On hard days, the thing truly being worked on is our soul, our devotion, our dedication, our commitment, and our self-identity as someone who can choose to thrive even when nothing is going right and everything feels hard.

Creation before Recreation.

Work before Play.

Give yourself to Inspiration, the Muse, before giving in to Temptation.

There are ideas within you waiting to be brought to life.

Whether you put words on a page, paint on a canvas, or shape wet clay into vases, you either choose to give birth to your creative potential each day and become a more creatively activated being, or you choose to skip a day and slide back and risk skipping another day which could become a month or five years before you know it.

It is an incredibly slippery slope.

Best just to not slip in the first place.

Don't let yourself off the hook.

There is a time and place for temptation.

You're an adult.

You choose that time and place.

That is your power and you can insert your own damn Spiderman quote about power and responsibility because I'm hungry and still need to film a YouTube video!
